SonarSwing Step by Step: From First Look to Entry by Button

SonarSwing trades BTC between fixed zones on the hourly chart. Here's how to set up the card, set your drawdown limit, and execute a signal.

SonarSwing looks for swing trades in BTC between fixed zones on the hourly chart. This guide takes you from opening it for the first time to your first entry by button, even without prior knowledge.

Check the prerequisites

Before you start, five things should be in place. If one is missing, the app will tell you exactly which one when you try to execute. It's faster to sort it out beforehand.

– PRO Channel: Entry by button is available to PRO Channel subscribers. Fully automatic trading comes later and will then be reserved for Sonaris subscribers.

– Blofin connected: In the app, under Sonaris AI → Connected exchanges, your Blofin account is on file. At launch, SonarSwing only executes on Blofin.

– One-way on Blofin: Your Blofin account is set to the one-way position mode, not hedge.

– Balance: Your Blofin futures account holds at least as much USDT as you want to allocate to SonarSwing.

– BTCUSDT free: On Blofin you have no open position, no order and no stop on BTCUSDT.

Open the SonarSwing tab

Open the PRO Channel in the app. At the top you see three tabs: SonarPuls, SonarSwing and DeepWave. Tap SonarSwing.

At launch there is exactly one pair: BTCUSDT on the hourly chart. That's why the filters you know from the other tabs are missing here.

PRO Channel with the SonarSwing tab active, header and key figures

Read the header and key figures

The card's header shows BTCUSDT with your set leverage, and below it “1H · Swing zones”. On the right, a badge shows the state: “Zones active” in blue means the module is working normally. “Signal lock” in yellow with a padlock means it isn't taking any new entries right now.

“As of” names the time of the last check. SonarSwing checks every minute whether the price has crossed an entry line.

Below that are three key figures. Price is the current BTC price. Range shows, in percent, how far the market is currently swinging. Market phase describes the market phase, for example “After uptrend” or “Decision (after downtrend)”. The zones' positions depend on the market phase.

Read the zones and entry lines

Where a chart would normally sit, SonarSwing shows a list instead: the entry lines. Red rows with S1, S2 … belong to the short zone, green ones with L1, L2 … to the long zone. The blue row with ▶ is the current price.

On the right, each line shows its distance to the price in percent. If a line is highlighted and carries “order waiting”, that's where the module would enter next.

If the price crosses such a line, a signal is created immediately, not only at the close of the hour. Below the list you see the zones' price ranges: short zone, long zone and long zone 2. “off” means that zone isn't active right now.

Turn on the Telegram alert

Signals can arrive at any time of day or night, and the entry button is only active for a while. So turn on the Telegram alert. Then SonarSwing sends you every signal for BTCUSDT on your phone.

If it says “No Telegram account is connected yet”, tap Connect Telegram. You'll land in the bridge and can link Telegram there.

Below that you see the “Fully automatic trading” switch. It's greyed out: this tier comes later and is planned only for Sonaris subscribers.

Choose position mode and margin mode

Now for the execution settings. For Position mode you choose One-way: at most one position per direction. “Both directions” is still locked and will follow later.

Below that the app asks what should happen on a counter-signal. “Flip position” is the default: the position is closed as soon as the module switches to the opposite direction.

“Let it run” also works, but the app then warns you. In the backtest since 2024 this choice did worse, and one long position stayed open for 300 days.

For Margin mode there is no default, you have to choose yourself. With Isolated, only this position's margin is at risk. With Cross, your entire futures balance stands behind it: a large drawdown then also hits the rest of your account.

Set the capital for SonarSwing

In the “Capital for SonarSwing” field, you enter how many USDT you allocate to SonarSwing. This amount must be freely available on Blofin.

Your position size results from capital times leverage. With 2,000 USDT and 1× your position is worth 2,000 USDT, with 3× it's 6,000 USDT. All drawdown figures on the card refer to this capital.

Set your drawdown limit

In the “Maximum drawdown” field you set how much of your SonarSwing capital the largest drawdown may cost at most. The default is 30 %. This refers to the drawdown from the backtest: SonarSwing's rules are applied to BTC prices since January 2024 for this.

From your limit, the card calculates the matching leverage and writes it out for you, for example: “Within your limit of 30 % drawdown you stay up to 1× (backtest).”

This is how the backtest looked on 27 September, with half ladder depth and 2,000 USDT capital:

– 1× — 22.4 % largest drawdown of the backtest — 448 USDT at 2,000 USDT

– 2× — 44.9 % — 898 USDT

– 3× — 67.3 % — 1,346 USDT

– 5× — 112.1 % — 2,242 USDT

Above 100 % means: with this position size, you would have lost more in the past than your SonarSwing capital provides. And the backtest only shows the past. A future drawdown can be deeper.

Set the leverage

You set the leverage with the “Leverage” slider, from 1× to 25×. When you first open it, it's at 1×.

Below the slider, in yellow, it shows what the largest drawdown would have cost at this leverage, for example at 5×: “At 5× the largest drawdown so far would have cost 112.1 % of your SonarSwing capital (backtest since 2024, with a fixed stake as in trading) – keep that much as a reserve.”

If you've entered a capital amount, the app converts it to USDT for you: “With 2,000 USDT that is 2,242 USDT.”

If you push the leverage past your limit, a box with a checkbox is added: “At 5× the largest drawdown of the backtest would have cost 112.1 % of your SonarSwing capital – more than your limit of 30 %. I still want to trade with 5×.”

Then you either go back until the box disappears, or you tick the checkbox deliberately. The confirmation only applies to this exact leverage, and without it the settings cannot be saved.

Blofin also sets its own ceiling for BTCUSDT. If you're above it, execution will tell you.

Choose the entry type and ladder depth

For Entry type you choose Scaling. Module 3 can already be configured, but for now only the scaling entry is executed by button.

The scaling entry spreads out the entry: 1 market order + 9 post-only limit orders. The first part goes in immediately at the market price, the other nine sit as limit orders below it (above it for short). Post-only means they are only filled once the price comes to them.

How deep the ladder reaches is your choice. “Half the distance” is the default and reaches halfway to the stop-loss. “up to 0.1 % before the SL” uses the full distance. Then there's the distribution: “Linear” makes all levels the same size, with “Increasing factor x” the deeper levels get larger.

Linear vs. increasing factor x, level sizes and the average entry compared

Set the targets

SonarSwing splits the position across three targets. TP1 takes 20 %, TP2 40 %, and TP3 lets the last 40 % run as “Moon”.

– TP1 sits halfway to the opposite side and is fixed at entry. Alternatively, you can use a fixed percentage from entry.

– TP2 sits at the edge of the opposite zone. You decide whether it stays fixed after entry or moves with the market.

– TP3 stays open until you trigger it yourself, the trailing stop kicks in, or a counter-signal closes the position.

The percentages refer to the quantity filled up to the first target reached.

With the “After two trend changes, set TP3 as a target on the opposite side” checkbox, the Moon share also gets a target. From the second trend change after entry onward, SonarSwing places TP3 on the opposite side and trails it hourly. Without the checkbox, TP3 stays open, as described above.

TP1 20 %, TP2 40 %, TP3 40 % stays open, SL moves to entry after TP1

Set the stop-loss rules

The stop-loss sits 2 % behind the signal price at the time of the signal. How it's trailed afterwards, you set in two rows.

“Move SL to entry”: Off, after TP1 (default), after TP2, or on the trailing signal. After that the stop sits at your average entry price.

“When the price crosses the trailing line”: The trailing line starts around 30 hours after the signal and only moves in the direction of profit.

When the price crosses it, what you choose here happens: nothing, SL to entry, SL to TP1, SL to a price x % above the average entry (below it for short), or close position. The default is “SL to price x %” at 1 %.

Trailing line from about 30 hours on, only rises, with the five choices for when it's crossed

Save the settings

Tap “Save settings”. If “Saved.” appears, everything is ready. If “Still to choose:” appears below it, something is missing, and the app tells you exactly what.

Important: only the saved settings count. The server also calculates from those once you press the button.

Wait for a fresh signal

Under “Signal Execution” sits the big button. As long as there's no usable signal, it's grey, carries a padlock and tells you the reason, for example “No open signal” or “Price outside the ladder – no longer fresh”.

It becomes active while the signal is fresh. That means: the model is in the trade, TP1 has not been reached yet, and the price is between the signal price and the end of the ladder. Then the button shows LONG in green or SHORT in red.

Below the button are the signal price, ladder end and SL of the latest signal. SonarSwing also checks the daily trend: against a strong daily trend the model doesn't enter, and then no button appears either.

Check the entry

Tap the “Check entry” button. After a brief “Checking …” the preview appears. It shows how the entry would be placed right now:

– Exchange, margin mode, leverage and one-way

– Stake and position value

– Entry: the market part at the current price

– Ladder: the post-only limits from … to …

– SL, TP1 and TP2 with price. For TP3 it says “stays open”.

Read the preview carefully. If it says “Test run: nothing is sent to the exchange”, execution is still running in test mode.

Execute or cancel

If everything fits, tap “Execute now”. Otherwise tap “Cancel”, and nothing happens.

On the click, the server recalculates everything once more. If the signal has changed in the meantime, you get “The signal has changed – please check again.” Then simply fetch the preview again.

Check the result

After executing you see “Executed” and below it one row each for leverage, entry, SL, ladder and targets. A green checkmark means: the exchange accepted it. For ladder and targets it shows how many orders were accepted, for example “9 / 9”.

If “Not all orders were accepted – please check the position at the exchange” appears, check on Blofin. If the app reports that the SL could not be placed and the position could not be closed, check on Blofin immediately. That means an unprotected position is sitting at the exchange.

From here on SonarSwing manages the position. With every filled level the target sizes grow along. After the first target is reached, the rest of the ladder falls away. The stop follows your breakeven and trailing choice, and a counter-signal closes the position.

Fix common messages

Most rejections have a simple reason. The app always states it in plain language:

– “Your Blofin account is in hedge mode”: Set the position mode on Blofin to one-way.

– “BTCUSDT is already in use on your Blofin account”: Close the open position, or delete the orders and stops on BTCUSDT.

– “Available balance is below your SonarSwing capital”: Transfer USDT to the futures account, or lower the capital.

– “Capital too small for 10 orders at this leverage”: The app tells you the minimum amount. Increase the capital accordingly.

– “Blofin allows at most … for BTCUSDT”: Set the leverage lower.

– “You have already executed this signal”: Every signal can only be executed once.

SonarSwing takes the calculating off your hands, not the decision: you choose the capital, the limit and the leverage. After that the module runs targets and stop by your rules.

Trading futures with leverage can lead to the loss of your entire capital used, and beyond that with Cross. The backtest describes the past since January 2024 and is not a promise for the future.
