Bitcoin After the Arc Break: The Time Window Opens on 19 August
The arc gave way on 1 August. The path to the inner high-volatility zone at $51,468 is now open — and the new 2.5-year cycle begins on 19 August.
How to switch on the GannSonar Trendlage in the Trading Desk and read candle colours, glowing events, steps and the decision box.
The GannSonar Trendlage is the new trend indicator in the Trading Desk. It colours every candle by the state of the trend, makes special events light up and lays steps and zones over the chart. This guide shows how to switch it on and how to read it.
Open the Trading Desk. The toolbar sits below the chart. Click “Indicators” there and tick “GannSonar Trendlage”.
Four switches appear underneath: “Support/resistance”, “Decision zones”, “Squeeze” and “All events”. When you switch it on, the first three are ticked and “All events” is off. What they do is covered in the last step.
The Trendlage is part of the Trading Desk and needs a subscription that includes the Trading Desk. Without it you can still switch it on, but the chart then shows “GannSonar Trendlage is currently unavailable”.
The Trendlage paints the candles itself, in the colour of their state: green means up, red means down, grey means the market is still deciding.
There are ten states. A green family stands for the uptrend, two greys stand for the decision, positive and negative, and a red family for the downtrend. The chart names the state at the top left, next to the indicator name, for the candle under the crosshair, for example “Downtrend weakening”.
The stronger the colour, the stronger the trend. Pale tones show that a trend is weakening, glowing tones the maximum zone. That way you see at a glance how much force is behind the move.
Some candles glow. They mark an event, and each has its own colour: trend up neon green, trend down neon red, weakening yellow, retest cyan, breakout white, capitulation violet and flash crash orange.
In the pictures, the beginning of a trend lights up first, then the weakening of a trend and finally the breakout. By default only the most important events glow; you add the quieter ones with “All events”.
When a trend holds, the Trendlage fades in support and resistance as steps. The longer the trend runs, the more clearly they show. The price labels at the edge give the value of the step.
In decision phases the Trendlage lays a box over the candles. It is divided into layers: the extreme zone at the top, a transition below it, then decision positive and negative, and at the bottom another transition and the lower extreme zone.
The label at the edge gives the price range of the zone, for example the extreme zone at the top or the decision zone. If you move the crosshair into the box, the chart names the layer the candle sits in at the top left.
The Trendlage is available for every time frame from 5 minutes to 1 week. For other time frames the Desk shows the note “GannSonar Trendlage is available from 5m to 1w”. The picture shows the weekly chart.
– “Support/resistance”: fades in the steps for support and resistance.
– “Decision zones”: lays the box with the extreme zones over the chart in decision phases.
– “Squeeze”: marks the phases in which the zones contract, and the breakout from them.
– “All events”: additionally shows the quieter events, for example the zone middle and the start of a squeeze.
The Trendlage describes the state of the market at every candle. It is neither a forecast nor a trading recommendation: it shows where the market stands, not where it is heading.
