The FraktalGann Chart Explained

Angles, arcs, and an origin at Bitcoin's start in 2009: FraktalGann runs century-old Gann geometry over the chart automatically — 1D free, 6H/1H with a Sonaris AI subscription.

GannSonar bundles four different views of the market on one page — L2 deviation, FraktalGann, trend impulse, and Monte Carlo projection. This post covers the first and most elaborate one: the FraktalGann chart. The other three get their own post.

Time and price in geometric order

The approach comes from W.D. Gann, a 1920s stock trader convinced that price moves repeat in fixed geometric ratios. SonarSignal automatically calculates a net of angles and arcs over the Bitcoin chart from that — anchored to Bitcoin's start in 2009 and continuously matched against the current price. Two badges in the top right show the calculation is running: Macro Matrix for the big picture, Fractal Sync for whichever quadrant is currently active.

How to apply the geometry

The starting point is a fixed reference far back in Bitcoin's history. From there, FraktalGann draws angles at fixed ratios — 8:1, 4:1, 3:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:8 — across the entire chart. Traditionally, the 1:1 line, where price and time move in lockstep, is considered the most important: when price moves along this line, followers of the method see it as a kind of balance between buyers and sellers.

Then come the arcs around that same origin. Their radii follow a fixed number sequence (1, √2, 1.5, 2, √5, 3 …) — marking points in time where price and time stand in a specific ratio to each other. When the current price approaches one of these lines or an arc, the element visibly lights up on the chart. That's a visual cue pointing to a zone the method considers worth watching — not an automatic buy or sell signal.

Here's what that looks like in practice — zoomed into three different time windows of the same BTC/USD chart:

FraktalGann auf dem gesamten BTC/USD-Verlauf seit 2013, mit den Gann-Winkeln über die komplette Kursgeschichte
Gezoomt auf 2019 bis 2023: ein Gann-Bogen markiert bei 68.997,75 einen möglichen Widerstand, die Winkel verdichten sich
Gezoomt auf 2024 bis 2026: ein dichtes Netz aus Winkeln und Bögen, mit einem markierten Hoch bei 126.219,03

Switch resolution — 1D free, more with a subscription

The daily chart (1D) is open to everyone. For finer resolution, the switch right next to it offers 6 hours or 1 hour — both part of the Sonaris AI subscription and locked otherwise. Until recently, clicking one of those on a free account just led to an empty chart with no explanation; that's been fixed, and now it points to the subscription instead.

FraktalGann description with resolution override: 1D active, 6H and 1H locked

Right now, FraktalGann runs exclusively on Bitcoin. That's about to change: we're working on unlocking new trading pairs for the analysis on a weekly basis soon.

In short

Whether Gann geometry actually holds up as support and resistance has been debated among traders for decades — SonarSignal only handles the calculation here, the judgment call stays with you. If arcs and angles aren't your thing, the other three GannSonar tabs offer noticeably more concrete numbers.
